Durability

It's no good having a beautiful piece of furniture if it only lasts 5 minutes...

Two of the most common questions we get asked are "How long will it last?" and "Do I need to treat it?".

With our entire range being produced from pressure treated timber, we can confidently reply that it will last for up to 15 years. This doesn't mean of course that you can't refinish our products at any time if you fancy a change of colour or they are beginning to look a bit weather worn.

The advantage in using pressure treatment is that unlike other treatments which are simply brushed on, pressure treatment "sucks" the preserative right into the timber, giving a much longer lasting and more effective treatment that isn't affected by the elements and provides unbeatable protection from the effects of rot and fungal attack. As well as being good for your furniture, we also ensure that the preservatives we employ are water based so that they don't impact on the environment.

Finally, to assemble our products we use only high quality, corrision treated fixings thoughout the construction process to guarantee the maximum strength, integrity and longevity of each item of furniture or fencing we produce.

* We recommend that our products should be checked regularly and re-coated with a suitable topcoat finish when required. Re-decoration with external quality wood stains is recommended at regular intervals dependent on exposure. If accidental damage occurs, lightly sand and recoat with suitable water based wood preservative.

Please also note that as a natural product it is possible that knots can work loose and sometimes fall out and resin leakage and small cracks can appear on the woods surface. Should resin leakage occur, clean off the resin, ensure any sharp edges are sanded smooth and recoat with finish if necessary.
