Below are a selection of our FAQs, hopefully these will help answer any questions you may have, If not do please feel free to contact us or use the live chat.
How long will delivery take?
All of the products we supply are made to order and shipped using a 3 day courier service. This whole process typically takes 7 to 10 days but during our busiest periods it can take up to 14 working days from point of order for a delivery to be completed. If you required a faster service please mark your order "ASAP" at the checkout and we will do our best to expedite your order through our system.
How will I know when my delivery is due?
We will email several days prior to your delivery so that you know what day it is due to arrive.
Can I specify an AM or PM only delivery?
Our couriers do not offer an AM or PM service but can offer this for an additional surcharge. Please contact us if you would like a quote for this service.
Do I need to sign for my delivery?
No. Our couriers, DX Nightfreight, are more than happy to leave the goods for you providing there is somewhere safe to do so. This could be a front garden, a drive etc, anywhere that isn't on a public road or pavement.
If you do have a delivery left for you without a signature we would expect you to inspect for any transir damage within a reasonable period of time as we only have a 7 day window to report this back to the courier and damages reported after this may not be as easy to deal with.
Do you deliver at the weekend
No. Our couriers normally only deliver from Monday to Friday, however, for a £40 surcharge our couriers will organise a weekend delivery. We can also delivery locally at weekends. Please contact us for further details.
Can I track my delivery?
Yes you can. once you have received your delivery date confirmation contact us by phone or email and will send you your consignment details and how you can track the delivery with the courier.
Can I change my delivery date?
Yes. Simply get in touch by phone or email and we will change your delivery date if at all possible.
Who will deliver my order?
In most cases we will use DX Nighfreight to deliver your order. Orders to outlying regions such as northern Scotland and offshore locations such as the Isle of Wight may be delivered by a 3rd party courier service.
Local deliveries may be delivered by our own vehicle.
Can I collect from you?
Yes. Collection is possible from both our office and workshop during normal office hours.
If I collect will I still have to pay the delivery charge?
No. If you have paid it already and collect, the carriage will be refunded.
How easy is it to assemble?
Very easy! All of our products, including our log stores, come flat-packed with all necessary fixings and hardware for assembly. Your dispatch confirmation will also include a PDF file containing the correct instructions for your model, which you can also download from the products own page on this website.
The only tool required for construction is an electric screwdriver (you could use a hand one, but assembly will take much longer) and depending on how big or small the log store you are assembling is, should take between 20 and 60 minutes to assemble.
Can you build me a bespoke log store?
Unfortunately it is not viable for us to undertake bespoke, custom log store orders. However, we can alter, to a certain extent, any of our log store models including but not restrricted to the following:
- Any height up to 7ft tall
- Additional partions to split the store e.g. if you wished to segregate seasoned/seasoning logs.
- solid floor section(s) rather than lattice
- Reversed pitch roof

Do I need to place the log store on a base?
We would always recommend where possible that you place your log store on a firm, level base such as a concrete pad or paving slabs or flags. They can be placed straight onto a lawn or grass but you may experience some subsidence, especially with the larger models, during prolonged wet periods.
What size bench should I choose?
Your choice of bench size is dictated by the following factors:
- How many people you wish to seat?
- How big are the people?
- What activity will they be undertaking whilst seated at the table?
For example, our 6ft bench can comfortably seat 6 "average" size people. However, if they are dining for example, they may want some extra room to eat comfortably.
How easy is it to assemble?
Very easy! All of our products, including our benches, come flat-packed with all necessary fixings and hardware for assembly. Your dispatch confirmation will also include a PDF file containing the correct instructions for your model, which you can also download from the products own page on this website.
The only tool required for construction is a 10mm spanner or a socket set and, depending on the model, you can expect assembly to take between between 20 and 45 minutes. Also bear in mind that larger benches such as our octagonal model are far easier to build with 2 people.
How should I treat my furniture?
All of the timber we use at Rutland County Garden furniture is pressure treated and guaranteed to be free from rot and fungal attack for up to 15 years. However, as with all timber outdoor products, the finish will age and weather over time and you may wish to give the table, bench, log store etc a coat of something to freshen it up cosmetically. Our recommendation is that you use a good quality fence/shed treatment such as those you would find in any high street DIY store. Other finishes such as oil can be used but we would recommend that you ensure that it is suitable for on softwood.
Do I need to felt the roof of my log store?
No. It is designed to let any water run off naturally and requires no additonal weatherproofing.
Can I paint my furniture?
Yes. We would recommend the Light Green or Natural finishes as the best for painting. Ensure that the paint you wish to use is suitable for use on timber.
